Nikon announced the D3s in October 2009 and it became known as "the low-light king" with its ability to take high ISO low noise photos. This anytime, anywhere, without flash camera sold for $5K USD at the time, but can now be acquired for under $1K.
A Nikon D3s was aboard the Discovery space shuttle launched April 2010, and was used to take photos at the International Space Station.
The Nikon D3s made an appearance in the 2013 Superman movie "Man of Steel" in which it was carried by Lois Lane played by Amy Adams.
Fast forward to 2022 and I can say that I am a very proud owner of a minty D3s which I bought for myself for Christmas!
